I‘ve been in this business 24 years. I started working for my father who was a State Farm Agent at the beach. I spent 12 years learning about the industry and the business from him. This prepared me for when he retired and I went to work as an agent for Florida Farm Bureau. My ten years with them opened my eyes even more to the insurance industry. I learned about brokering insurance. During this time period I was a captive agent and my hands were tied. I had limited products to offer my clients. This had a negative effect on me. I wanted so much to take care of all of my client’s insurance needs and felt awful when I had to tell them I couldn’t. In October of 2005 I decided to retire from Florida Farm Bureau and open up my own independent agency at the beach. I wanted to be able to help my clients as much as I possible could. I wanted to be able to say YES.
Who is David L Barnette?
Born David Barnette outside of London, England, I joined my family in moving around the world, following Dad’s military career. By 1963, we had arrived in Jacksonville, established roots and 4 years later, permanently settled at the beaches. In love with the coastal region, I bought my own Ponte Vedra home in 1983. I married my beautiful wife Kim and have one son who recently left the nest. We adopted two new cats. Oddly enough, they’re all so much alike…the 3 of them love to just lie around and do nothing!
